The museum at the Souleiado house in the town of Tarascon became one of my favorite places on this trip. Housed in the family’s home-factory, with its traditional Mediterranean architecture, the setting was perfect for the displays of its gorgeous fabrics and designs, and the process through which they were crafted. This lovely room was the washroom where the fabrics were washed after being imprinted by hand. Its special appeal for me was that it reminded me of the patio in our house in Miramar; the doors leading to it had vitrales (colored glass decoration) similar to those found in the old colonial houses in Havana. |
