Summer Solstice at Brookside Gardens

It had been raining all week and I was resigned to not being able to get out to paint when the clouds began to lift on Saturday afternoon. By the time I got to Brookside it was late in the afternoon, and the light was lovely. The plants were lush from the rains and a gentle breeze animated the branches. Lace-cap hydrangeas bloomed on the hillside sloping down to a pond.
